David van Dartel about his book launch in Harper's Bazaar and Volkskrant Magazine
‘You instantly want to be carried away, to this sea full of empty space, created by David van Dartel’—Harper’s Bazaar NL
Earlier this week, This Time Tomorrow—the first book by David van Dartel—launched at MENDO. This Time Tomorrow is a stunning publication of the series On Vlieland—an ongoing body of work in which van Dartel captures both the rugged nature of the Dutch island Vlieland and his dear friendships. The foreword of the book is written by one of our other artists: the fabulous Chris Bucklow.
The book was welcomed enthusiastically by the press: in celebration of the publication, Harpers Bazaar NL published a seven-page interview about van Dartel’s work, his inspiration and his future plans. Volkskrant Magazine published a beautiful photo reportage of selected works from the book in today’s issue.
A selection of the works is currently on display at MENDO (Nieuwe Doelenstraat 10, Amsterdam), open by appointment. David van Dartel also hosted an Instagram Live session there this morning, answering questions from the audience about the show, the book and his works.
