Henry Horenstein in Amsterdam

On the occasion of our new exhibition SHOW + SPEEDWAY 72, we were honoured to welcome legendary Henry Horenstein from Boston to Amsterdam. The opening ceremony and official European launch of his newly-released book Speedway took place in our space, in presence of many of the gallery’s old and new friends!

Following our exhibition opening, we had a lovely afternoon with Henry at the charming boutique cinema FC Hyena at the shores of the IJ river in Amsterdam Noord. His lovely, uplifting film ‘PARTNERS’ was screened, with a short introduction and talk by himself.

BA and MA students from the American History Department of the University of Amsterdam and the Photography Department of the Gerrit Rietvelt Academy had the unique opportunity to meet and talk with Henry. During the lectures, he talked about his career, the approach to his subjects and the interdisciplinary nature of his body of work.

Concluding this round of events, talks and screening we would like to thank everyone of you who joined us & most importantly Henry Horenstein himself. It is always an absolute pleasure and honour to welcome him here!
